Ledyard Canal Greenway

Ledyard Canal Greenaway Waterfall

The Ledyard Canal Greenway is a naturalistic corridor through the center of the Village. The canal itself was built in 1849 to supply water power from Limestone Creek in Manlius to mills and factories in Fayetteville. On its way to Limestone Creek the canal passes through a series of falls totaling over 100 feet, and it is the only source of water for Beard Park Pond.

Currently most of the water comes from Manlius Springs, and Perry Springs in Manlius, supplemented by some overland runoff along the route.

Although Ledyard Canal Greenway is not established for recreational use at this time, residents and visitors are welcome to explore the path of the canal through the Village seeing multiple waterfalls, nature, and wildlife that continue to call the canal home. While exploring be sure to enjoy the following Village parks that are within the Ledyard Canal corridor: Beard Park (Huntington Beard Memorial Park), Grover Cleveland Honors Park, Washington Park.
