Starting May 28, 2024- New Automated Trash/Recycling Collection program in the Village!

New carts for trash & recycling carts have been delivered to each property.     If your property did not receive one trash cart & one recycle cart, please check with the village office.

**As of January 2024, you must call ahead to be placed on pickup schedule for Building Debris, Hardfill and Bulky items (ie. mattresses, etc.)  See schedules below for the monthly pickup dates; plan to call at least a week ahead of that month's pickup date!

New Trash Routes [effective May 28, 2024]:


Tuesday (Trash Pickup) - Thursday (Recycle Pickup)

Western part of the Village of Fayetteville between Manlius St (Rte 257) and Burdick Street/Highbridge Street

Wednesday (Trash) - Friday (Recycle)

Eastern part of the Village,from Manlius St (Route 257), Huntleigh Park, Brookside,  Signal Hill up to Briar Brook


If there are any changes to pickup because of a holiday, it will be noted on the Calendar.   During summer, the hours change to four 10-hour days Tues thru Friday (No Mondays).

Please note: No debris pickups in November - only leaf pickup  [Please keep leaf pile separated from brush.  Thank you!]

Trash/recycling pickup generally begins at 7:00 A.M.  (earlier at 6 AM in summer!) so please be sure to place at curb BY 6:00 A.M. Thank you!

Trash/Debris is curbside pick up only -- Please do not bring trash/debris to the DPW garage; there is no dumping allowed.

Trash needs to be bagged and tied up. For the health & safety of the DPW crews, and your fellow neighbors, please dispose of your trash properly and responsibly. Help us help you.

Televisions & electronics cannot be picked up by village DPW.  Please contact OCRRA for disposal or watch for periodic Electronic Recycling Events!

Village curbside pick-up service is provided by the Village of Fayetteville Department of Public Works.

Items Picked up on Regular Trash Routes:

  • Garbage
  • Trash

Schedule Pickup For Items Such as Below (items that would not fit in your trash cart):

  • Appliances
  • Upholstered Furniture
  • Microwaves Ovens
  • Carpets
  • Rugs
  • Stoves
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Furnace Parts (four foot maximum)
  • Miscellaneous Metals

The Village WILL NOT PICK UP loads that contain:

  • Roofing Materials
  • Shingles
  • Televisions/Electronics
  • Florescent Bulbs
  • Liquid Paint Thinner
  • Solvents
  • Batteries
  • Acids
  • Alkalis
  • Drain Cleaners
  • Oil
  • Grass Clippings
  • Gas
  • Propane
  • Fuel Tanks.

The Village DPW cannot take T.V.s, electronics, florescent bulbs, hazardous liquid materials (i.e. paint, lawn fertilizers, liquid chemicals).

Recyclable Items:  

  • Cardboard (2’ x 3’ maximum)
  • Plastic
  • Paperboard
  • Glass
  • Newspaper, etc.

Scheduled* Pick-Ups (village wide):

  • Beginning Mondays: Brush, yard waste, tree limbs, metal-free lumber and clean wood generated by homeowner. Cut to 4-foot lengths, place parallel to curb but not in street; do not bag or mix with other materials. We do not pick up grass clippings.
  • * 2nd Wednesday of Each Month (Village Wide): The Village will pick up any bulky item(s) that do not fit in the trash cart, such as carpet, lamp, and other miscellaneous items. [Fee applies to pick up mattresses or tires, or a large clean-out.]
  • * 3rd Friday of Each Month (Village Wide): The Village will pick up Clean Hard Fill (including old much or sod), Dirt, Rocks, Concrete, Masonry, and Bricks (55lb. Containers maximum).
  • * Last Friday of Each Month (Village Wide): The Village will pick up Building Materials, Wood/Wooden Furniture, Lumber, Plastic Pipe (4 Ft. Maximum), Plaster, Drywall and Plumbing Fixtures.

*[Beginning Jan 1st ,2024 MUST schedule ahead to have your hardfill, building debris and bulky items picked up that month.]

Please DO NOT place garbage, trash, recyclable at the roadside until the evening prior to your route. Timely removal of empty containers is appreciated.

It is illegal to bring trash or other debris to the village for collection.

Village of Fayetteville is a member of the CNY Stormwater Coalition and is designated as an MS4 community. The Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System  (MS4) General Permit requires regulated municipal MS4s (those with a minimum population density of 1000 people per square mile and are located in urban areas as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau) to develop and fully implement a stormwater management program by 2008.
