Feeder Canal Trail

Connecting residents with the historic Erie Canal

The Feeder Canal Trail is located behind the Manlius Town Hall building on Brooklea Drive and is accessible via Feeder St. or Wortley Way. This trail connects the Village of Fayetteville with the Erie Canal Trail system and Old Erie Canal State Historic Park. The trail is adjacent to Canal Landing Park.

Thousands of residents and visitors make use of this trail each year for fitness and recreation year round. The trail is natural and a scenic route along a feeder canal that connects with the Erie Canal. Those biking, walking, or snowshoeing along the trail to the end will be rewarded with a view of the Limestone Creek Aquaduct adjacent to the towpath, and remnants of the lime kilns once a part of Village industry.

History
In 1826 New York State dug this feeder canal to provide water to the enlarged Erie Canal. This connection provided the Village with added industrial opportunity including improved access to lime.
