Update on Culvert Work in Carriage Hill7/16/21
Here's the latest on the Bishop’s Brook Culvert Repair Project:
The contractor notified the village that they are waiting for Final Approval of both the rail and the paving and that there has been a 4-6 week delay for some of the material needed to complete the project. Since the contract that the village has with Slate Hill includes the Limestone Creek Bank Stabilization Project (at Canal Landing Park) they have moved their workforce to this location while they wait on materials to complete the Bishop’s Brook Culvert. If you would like to review the Design Plans they can be found linked below.
Unfortunately it is not uncommon for site conditions to create the need for changes and time extensions but be assured that we are doing our best to finish the project by early September.
Reconstruction of the culvert began in May 2021. This project is made possible due to a grant awarded to the village last summer. The CFA Grant was in the amount of $522,000 for reconstruction of Bishop’s Brook culvert project that would include bank stabilization and headwall repairs. But after the village acquired the necessary permits, the bids received were unfortunately $300,000 over the grant amount. So the plan was revised and rescheduled for this year.
