Village of Fayetteville - Biographies

Mark A. Olson - Mayor
marko@fayettevilleny.gov
I was born and raised in Fayetteville with my seven brothers and sisters. My wife Mary and I have two sons Nate (9) and Noah (3) and we are very proud to be raising our family in Fayetteville where I have so many fond memories. I graduated from the Fayetteville-Manlius School district and attended College at SUNY Morrisville in the food service administration degree program. I’m currently a special projects manager for Gerharz Equipment in East Syracuse.

I have been a member of the Fayetteville Fire Department since 1981 and I currently serve as 1st Captain and Assistant Treasurer of the Fireman’s Association. I was elected as a Trustee in 1996 and re-elected in 2000 and have served as liaison to the planning, zoning and historic boards as well as celebrations and buildings and grounds and in my second term as trustee I served as liaison to the Fayetteville Senior Center and Fayetteville Free Library. I was elected to the Mayors office in April of 2004.

From a very young age I was taught to give back more than you receive and in the case of Fayetteville I can think of no better way to give back than to be able to do what I get to do each and everyday. I have a dream that my two sons will want to live and raise their families up in Fayetteville and each and everyday I work towards making Fayetteville the best place in the world to live.
